BIOGRAPHY

Nicole Harper was born in Port Jefferson New York. She lived in New York until the age of eight then her family move to Utah, where she finished out her schooling a half a year early, in college, and with a scholarship in Jan. 2001. Around that time Nicole found out that she was going to be having a baby and married the love of her life Jason Harper. They just celebrated their 16 year anniversary. She gave birth to her son in 2001 and several years later gave birth to her daughter in 2004. After having her daughter she was in a bad car accident where she hurt her back and was given pain pills that she became addicted to and got lost in her addiction. She checked into the House of Hope in Oct. 2008 and finished the after care program at Promise North in November 2009 also graduating Family drug court.

Shortly after she got custody of her then 12-year-old niece who came to her failing school and with no self-esteem. Two years later she was reunited with her father with straight A’s and amazing self-worth. Nicole has worked very hard in her life since then educating youth on the reality of drug use, consequences, and alternatives. She also takes any opportunity to talk to youth about being young parents and how to prevent it happening in there own lives. She has always been active with her children’s schooling being class Mom, going on most field trips and helping with class parties, and help teach reading to struggling children. She has an amazing relationship with her 2 children and 4 nieces and 5 nephews. She has a way to make things positive even when going through losing her kids, drug addiction, being homeless, and a rocky marriage. She now has custody of her children, a home, and her marriage is stronger than ever.

PERSONAL STATEMENT OF ACHIEVEMENT

I’ve been through alot in life and believe even though I’m only 33 that I have more life experience then a lot of women twice my age. I’ve come from what felt like the pits of hell loosing my kids to rising up and grabbing the bull by the horns and taking control of my life, sharing my
story in hopes to help others not to have to go through what I have. I take pride in my self-worth and honesty, and work hard to show my kids I love myself and that I’m beautiful and intelligent, and that we can do anything we put our minds to. Life won’t always be perfect, and we make mistakes, but as long as you learn from them it’s ok. I strive to make sure I get involved with my children as much as I’m able, especially when it comes to school. I’m so glad that I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to be an active mother in their classes and have the opportunity to go on field trips with them, help with the class parties, help struggling children in their classes to learn to read, and the honor of being class mom! I find it very important to teach others about addiction and that you don’t have to have something traumatic happen to get sucked into the hell of addiction but to make sure they know it’s very hard, vigorous work to get sober and stay there. I’m glad I can sponsor other women who are struggling and hope they get as much out of me as I do from them. Being positive and believing in yourself is key because what you think about, you bring about!

MY FAMILY

I have a 15 year old son born in Provo, UT. He is very well mannered and respectful. He also is making me smile with his sense of humor. He has adorable curly blond hair, blue eyes and is 5’6”, taller than me already! He is very smart and loves history like his grandpa.

Next is my daughter who is almost 13. She is such a go-getter and is always amazing me with her talents. She is an amazing artist, great friend, intelligent, and can always make me smile too! She is a natural athlete and was the only girl in her league to play tackle football with the boys this year. She has great self confidence and is stunning. She has long blond hair , blue eyes, and is 5’3”.

Then there is my husband Jason. Jay was born in his home in Provo Utah.  We just celebrated our 16th year of marriage! He is a great father, handyman, and the most talented artist I know. He currently is using his art talent tattooing to support our family. We have been through alot together and I’m happy to say I am married to my best friend!

I am lucky I have the most amazing family and fortunate that we are able to be open with each other. I’m glad that my children get along and that they feel comfortable coming to me with there problems, which I’m careful not to solve for them right away so they are able to grow and learn in their own lives
